university students should take history courses |
Some say all university students should take history courses. On the other hand, other are opposed to this. They say it is not democratic. However, I agree that all college students should be demanded to take history courses.
First, taking history courses helps university students to keep what their nation has. In the north-east Asia, recently, there have been some controversies about the history of this region among some countries including South Korea, China, and Japan. Especially, the weakest among the three , my country, Soth Korea's history sharing some parts of other countries' has been distorted. China and Japan with their international inflence and by distorting the history, are trying to rob South Korea of territories, natural resources and so on. Thus, in order to protect our rights, history education in university should be requisite course for every single student.
Second, taking history courses helps students foster their identity. As the era of information has arrived and as international interchange has been promoted Korean university students seem to lack the identity and thus feel inferiro to surrounding countries like Japan and Singapore. This confusion in identity could lead to psychological disorder or irresponsibility for what they have done in abroad. Therefore, so as to prevent undesirable incidents that might happen, all university studnets should be required to take history courses.
In a nutshell, I firmly believe that all college studnets must take history courses. Tking history courses not only helps university students keeping what their nation has but also could help them in forming their identity which is acquired in everyday life so as not to undergo extreme confusion. |
