It is more important for teachers to help studetns gain self-confidence than specific knowledge. |
When we first meet someone, we can be impressed more easily by a self-confident person than a person who has specific knowledge. In fact, at school, a teacher teaches both at the same time. Both are important in forming a respectable person. However, when it comes to choosing only one of the two, Specific knowledge is more important than self-confidence in comparison, since there are other ways to learn confidence, not from teacher. First, one can get self-confidence from specific knowledge. On the other hand, confidence can not be utilized to get knowledge. For example, consider that there is a person who is now debating with other people on some issue. In the debate, the bigger one's knowledge, the more confident and conclusive one's statement. Also, hearing the one's strongly agreeable reasonings, listeners will have more fidelity on him. This can be resulted in increasing the confidence, too. On the other hand, when one does not have any deep comprehension on a given topic, he can not state his opinion very well. His ideas are not believable and clear. Sometimes, people will even insult the man because of his confusing opinion. In this case, he can not get any specific knowledge from his confidence, getting his confidence decreased. Also, basically, a teacher's role is giving informations to students. Teachers are someone who gives academic informations, and students are their recievers. Thus, it is more effective that the students learn to be more confident in case of need, with their parents. For instance, when parents teach their sons or daughthers about confidence, they can be better than teachers since they know more about the students than teachers do. Also, since it is not the teachers' role to instruct students with confidence, teachers have longer time to give specialized knowledge to students. Then, it is good for all the three. Parents can have some more attention to thier children, knowing more about them, becoming happier. Teachers do the basic role. Students can get both of the factors in the given topic. In conclusion, both of the factors are important. But, there is oviously better ways to get confidence. One is getting the confidence naturally generated from profound knowledge. The other one is from their parents, not from their teacher. Consdering this, teacher's role is to give students better informations, and with the students' parents' help, students can be confident without teacher's help. |
