Topic :people get information from the Internet
|
There is an argument concerning whether people get information from the Internet cause problems. I believe that getting Information from the Internet can have negative elements. The rationale behind is that the information from the Internet is not reliable and using the information recklessly can infringe of copyright.
First of all, a great number of the information searched from the Internet is not reliable. Generally, some of the writers who update information on the Internet are not specialists. These non-specialists usually create their own opinion through reading a professional’s essays. When we searched on specific word, thousands of opinions of the word can be founded. As an example, Korea Information Department (KID) had researched the useless information in the internet. They choose 30 words people usually searched on the Internet. People in KID searched for the 30 words in 12 search engines; 3 from China, 3 from Japan, 3 from the U.S.A, the rest of the 3 from Korea. Surprisingly, the information from 12 search engines are varies. Only 12 percent of the information is much the same. Additionally, 10percent of the writers are non-specialists.
In addition, the writers confess that their resources of the writing are from the others’ essay; who are also non-specialists. To sum up, unreliable information spread carelessly and this information create other unreliable information.
Secondly but no less importantly, an infringement of copyright is one of the serious problems. University students are easy to infringe the copyright. When they submit their paper, they usually fall in to temptation of copying others opinion in the Internet. As an example, a Korean University student had collected the part of the few essays from the Internet and rewritten his own paper. The student sentenced to five years. He did not know that using information from the Internet without any permission is violation of the law. People are easy to consider the all of information from the Internet as common property; think that they could use the information without restriction. However, an essay or information has its own power and people cannot use the information without any permission.
In summary, I agree that the statement that getting information from the Internet cause problems, on account of the reasons that I mentioned above: not only be the information from the Internet are unreliable because of the illiteracy of the non-specialists’ opinion in the Internet, but also the possibilities of an infringement of copyright by using information in the Internet without any permission. All in all, the internet, sea of information, gives us a bunch of useful intellectual information. However, we cannot guarantee its specialty and copyright resource.
