Opinions might be divided over whether it is easier to succeed in the past. Personally, I believe that today people more succeed than the past. First of all, there are many opportunities for people to learn. Moreover, they have the chance to develop social networks in many educational institutions than do in the past.
To begin with, a number of chances to learn allow people to succeed at ease. In the past, there are not a lot of educational facilities. So, people who wanted to improve their knowledge could not learn and it was difficult to succeed in fields which they studied. In contrast, today many educational institutions like public schools and private schools are emerging and can be increasing opportunities which people can learn. Therefore, in this atmosphere, educated people can succeed more than the past. According to a research by the Korea Times, the number of current high schools has more tripled than that of 1980’s. More surprising was the finding that the number coincides with the increase in highly educated people for the same period of time.
On top of that, modern people can broaden their human networks in order to succeed for their future. They have entered many educational facilities in their lives and met a lot of others who will become their assistants while attending many schools. So, it enables them to enhance their social relationship, which will help in their future job. The New York Times showed that more than 80 percent of the surveyed responded that they are inclined to prefer alumni who went to the same school when they were working in their companies. Therefore, in their companies, existence of alumni is advantageous in people’s success. All in all, because of the reasons I mentioned above, I firmly think that in modern society, it is more possible for people to succeed than the past.
