A teacher’s ability to relate well with students is more important than excellent knowledge of the subject being taught.
A teacher should be knowledgeable in the subject being taught, which means the teacher is regarded by students as the expert of his or her specialty area. However, if the teacher is interact with the students as like a friend then the students can be easily understand the concept what the teacher is teaching in the class. And the students can enjoy in the class room when teachers turn into the good role model.
First of all, a successful teacher must constantly adjust and use the right tools because a classroom is filled with many different types of students with different problems and needs. It is certainly true that no two students are the same. Personalities and especially learning styles vary greatly from student to student. Being able to access the resources that will match the learning style of each student is what makes a teacher effective. The students are human beings that should be loved and put in the right frame of mind if learning will be productive. They should be cared about their success and be supported and encouraged. There needs to be a strong amount of mutual respect, understanding, and empathy between the teacher and the students, as well as the students toward each other. A teacher should have the ability to make a good relationship with students, which let them feel free to coming to class.
Every certificated teacher has come through university understanding the subject they will teach, the importance of teaching it, and will also understand how to deliver the curriculum. However, what matters is not what they know, but how they correlate with knowledge to students. As any human relationship requires caring social interactions, so no matter how competent, creative or collaborative a teacher is, learning seldom occurs unless teachers care students. Teachers who share insights about themselves should give their students an appreciation for their knowledge, expertise and experiences. In other words, students can learn the most effectively when they are valued, respected and trusted by their teacher.
Listening, understanding, being compassionate, these are all traits that will develop a connection with students and these are all traits that will develop respect for teachers as well. If students can see they can relate to their teachers, they will be more likely to learn.
