Most people are pretty familiar with this phrase: 'the more, the better' This is definitely true just like 'two is always better than one' However, this phrase infers that people always try to pursue more properties even though they possess enough and never get satisfied with what they already have. To define the two cases, I suppose people tend to desire more money and prosperous life.
People always long to gain more money despite how much do they have. Mostly, people usually aim their goals high to earn certain amount of money as much as 20 million dollars annually; they must be happy when they achieve the goals they set. Yet, many case studies reveal that no matter how much money people obtain, they are still unhappy on their wages. For example, according to the study conducted by the well-known korean magazine, Korean Times, the poor are actually mentally happier than the rich. Almost 40 percent of Koreans who earn less than 10,000 dollars per month said they are pleasant. On the other hand, roughly 60 percent of people who earn more than 50,000 dollars per month ironically said they are not gratified with their living standard. This seems to be resulted from human-beings' common desire that seeks for more wealth. Hence, it is rational to conclude that mankind's sufficient-point of desire is infinite.
Moreover, all people commonly have a dream of living better life. One of the reasons why human society could be rapidly developed is due to people's demand for more convenient and comfortable amenity. Some scholars even stated that ' the demand of people actually burgeon the whole parts of society including democracy or socialism' As a matter of fact, this could be recognized in every place. Many people can experience the world with unbelievable improvements. Unlike the past, there are a myriad of types of televisions with various shapes, sizes and functions. Moreover, new TV are being produced every single second and stereotyped TV disappears promptly. To clarify, demand of people for TV with better options stimulated companies to invent better ones. Just like people wanting to have better TV, we all have propensity to spend our life time preciously; we can set the absolute truth that people are never gratified with what they own.
From my perspective, people are never satisfied with what they have as they always long for more money and better lives. Nevertheless, if they want true happiness, they should try as much as they can possibly try to manage their desire properly for more things.
