People have different perspectives on weighing the importance of process and the result. While some might argue that the final achievement is what should be evaluated, I believe that people should be judged by their endeavors. This is because people often fail because they were not given fair opportunities. Moreover, good amount of endeavors is likely to result in a positive way in the long run.
For one, a lot of hard working people do not attain the result they have strived for because of illegitimate obstacles in reality. Even though they deserve a good result from their hard work, they are often discouraged by unfair circumstances in reality or even unexpected bad luck. For instance, I had a very close friend who were really smart and always in the top of my class in highschool. She aimed for the best university in my country, and I was also very sure she was smart and hard working enough to be accepted. However, just a few days before the entrance exam, her mother got into a huge car accident. Eventually she could not focus on her exam and failed to enter the university that year. Even though a lot of people who did not know about her tragic situation evaluated her as a failure, I felt very bad and thought all her endeavors should plentifully be appreciated.
Furthermore, sometimes plentiful effort you put in right now may bring about a very constructive result later on. Even if you cannot obtain a striking result at this instant, it is very likely the skill you accumulated or the things(things 는 가능한 안쓰시는게..materials..) that you have learned at the moment will contribute to the overall development of your ability in the long run. For example, a few years ago I had to take the IBT TOEFL, and I studied very hard, for few months, day and night. However, my English was not at a very high level at the moment and I could not get a very good score back then. I was very much discouraged but my mom encouraged me by saying that the passion that I showed is good enough to be appreciated and my effort will bring about a good result someday. I continued to study English with the same passion after that, and I feel that I became much more fluent with Engish now, which pretty much satisfies myself. From the experience, I felt that instant result should not be the standard of evaluation, as it may contribute to an outstanding development later on.
To conclude, it is the endeavors that matters more than the achievements. This is because people often fail because of bad luck when they deserve to be evaluated by the efforts they put in so far. Additionally, even though the result is bad at the moment, the effort that you put in now is likely to work in a constructive way in the long run. As the old saying goes, the process is always of more importance than the result.
