My hometown is a small city and young people are leaving there for thier eduation or job. It is true that my hometown does not have wonderful characteristics to appeal to people at my age, thirties. However I believe some changes in public transportation, education, and cultural oppotunites can change my hometown to a attractive city to those who start their social actitivites.
First of all, people need convenient public transportations. Commuters in my hometown is suffering from terrible traffic jams. One local newspaper revealed that it takes more than 45 minutes for residents to work, which is quite long time considering the size of my hometown. The improvement in public transportation can induce people to use public transporting systems rather than cars and can alleviate traffic jams. Also, it can reduce the economical burden because driving a car is more expensive than taking a bus or a subway. This will be a great help to people at thirties who cannot afford owning a car and are not experienced enough to make as much money as older people.
In addition, improvement in eudcating and nourishing facilities will attract people at thirties. People usually start their social lives by getting jobs at late twenties and at thirties, they need specific training programs to develop their knowledge and skills as experts. Besides, generally speaking, people at thrites have little kids who need someone who take care of them while their parents work. The lack of nourishing facilites is one of social problems in Korea. Therefore, good nourishing facilities can change many hometown to be applealing to young couples with small children.
Finally, increased cultural opportunites can will attract young people at thirties. In the stressful modern society, it becomes more important to enjoy cultural lives than the past. Modern people are under severe mental stress and one research revealed that more than 56% of workers suffer from stress and 10% of them are in life-threatening state. Cultural opportunites such as plays, performances or art exhibitions can provide the means to relieve stress and refresh themselves. People at thirties are not exception.
To conclude, I believe my hometown can be more attractive to people at thirties if it has convenient public transportation, more educating and nourishing facillites and more cultural opportunities.
