Citizens in China, they fear to go outside of their house without their masks on. Citizens in Korea, parents tell their kids to put their masks on whenever they go out. Why is this happening? All of these things are happening because of technology that has brought on in our daily lives. Therefore, technology has brought many disadvantages rather than advantages.
We humans need environment. However, in the status quo, because of reckless developments by human beings, the nature is becoming more and more injured. That is the reason why a lot of environmentalists are protesting against manufacturers who do not follow the standard that they should follow to protect the law. However, all of efforts from environmentalists are fruitless because of selfishness from manufacturers who only cares about them. This concept is evident in China. My friend Joshua lived in China for four years always claimed that he wanted to come back to Korea. When I asked him what’s wrong, he have stated that because of manufacturing companies, the air pollutions are keep polluted, that he could not stand anymore. Manufacturers manufacture, because they need to invent new state of the art technology. However, if making technology harms the environment, manufacturers must stop since environment takes up priority.
Not only that, but also technology increased the gap between rich and the poor. That is the reason why a lot of people suffer from lack in technology and power, while others enjoy their prosperity in their country with state of the art technology. This phenomenon that increases the gap between countries is harmful since these gaps could increase bad feelings toward each other. Admittedly, there are some people who claim that the gap between the rich and poor is inevitable. However, I believe that even though that it is inevitable, people should at least give a try to lessen the gap and I say that best way to lessen the gap is to not developing the technology as much as we do now. According to the Columbia university research team, less than two out of ten families agreed with technology have developed their entire being. In other words, less than 50 percent of people feel that they are benefited by technology. This example clearly informs us that technology have done harm than good.
Enough is enough. We have been developing our environment recklessly, even though it is not belongs to us. We must make a self control rather than soul searching afterwards. |
