▶ Your Answer : Universities have a duty to provide a quality education to students and, in this regard, they should decide where to invest money in with discretion. Under this circumstance, I believe that they have to spend more money on facilities rather than enhancing the quality of faculty for the following two subsequent reasons. To begin with, students need the environment for self-studying. As an example, computer lab is a necessary place to do their assignments by searching useful information through the internet and providing them an area for discussion. Moreover, they can still utilize these things, even when professors are too busy to help them. Last year, for example, it was when I was about to visit professor’s room to ask questions. Since the lecture was extremely difficult for me, I could not almost understand his lecture so that I sincerely needed his support. However, he had already left the university for another class because he was so famous that he also gave a lecture in other universities. As a result, I had to solve the problem by myself but, thanks to the cutting-edge and high-quality facility, I was able to release my curiosity in the end. On top of that, the university is able to make the best use of money by preventing abuse. As we have seen in the news, some professors who hold a misguided idea try to make advantages of the budget for their own benefits. On the other hand, if the university spends their money on building more facilities, there will be nothing to worry about such illegalities. For instance, according to the statistics conducted by ABC university, 80% of the prestigious universities in the world were revealed that they have used budget on managing their facilities rather than on hiring famous professors since last twenty years. Also, they mentioned that they could effectively avoid abusing of money by this method. To summarize what I mentioned above, I am for the notion that the university must utilize money for its facilities. Therefore, nothing in mind casts doubt in my resolute standpoint regarding given statement. |
