Some people think that human activity makes the Earth a better place to live. However, we have to consider the Earth is not only for human beings but for all other living things including animals and plants. When I think about the effects of human activity on our planet for all living things, I stronlgy believe that it is damaging the Earth. There are plenty of reasons why I thinks so, here I present some of significant reasons.
First of all, the most important and widely spread effect of human activity is global warming. Many scientific studies revealed that the concentration of carbon dioxcide, CO2,in atmosphere has been increasing daramatically during recent 100 years. It is no more controversy between scientists whether the Earch is suffering from global warming or not, but it is rigid conclusion that it is suffering. One example suffering from global warming is polar bear. Polar bears spend most of their time on ice of the North pole. Global warming melted the ice of the North pole, and polar bears do not have places to take a rest.
Secondly, rain forests especially in South America, have been disappearing. The rain forests around Amazon river are habitats for many different animals and also tribes. They have evolved their own ways of living there. However, people wanted to developed the area to cultivate crops especially for cattles. They cut the trees and grew corns. This activity gave the severe damage to the ecosysem of the rain forests. Many species of animals have been extinct and some are now in danger. Tribes lost their habitats and they cannot get accusomed to the sudden change of life. This desturction is even exacerbating global warming because the rain forests take important role in converting carbon dioxide to oxygen.
Finally, human activities have been emitting a lot of pollutants. Human is the only species on the Earth which makes pollutants and there are many harmful things which did not exist before human made them. For instance, gases from cars would never exist on the Earth if human beings have not made them. In the ecosystem, it is impossible to make a waste, because the resources are always recycling for living organisms and the ecosystem itself is organic system.
To summarize, human activities destroyed the rain forests and caused global warming and pollutants. It is undeniable that these damaged the Earth and the other living organisms are suffering from them. Therefore I firmly believe that human activies harmed the Earth and made it a worse place to live for all living things. |
