An ongoing debate exists over whether it is better to judge people by first impressions.
Regarding this controversial issue, I strongly believe that juding people solely
on their first impressions is not a good idea because it sometimes gives wrong results.
First of all, many people are different from what they are seen by others. Many people are good at
disguising themselves . To adapt themselves into their environment, to achieve their purposes,
and to succeed in their lives, they strive to show good personalities and behaviors. The extreme case of
this is criminals. Killer Yu who have killed over 40 young ladies was a good-looking guy and everyone
around him believed that he is very polite and diligent. However, unlike with his appearance, he was
a cruel criminal that considered other people's lives flies' lives. Inner parts of him was full of
aversion and contempt about society and people. He was just making good impressions of him to survive and achieve his goals of killing people. As such, people cannot be identified simply by their
first impressions because there are many people are different from their first impressions.
Secondly, people have their own stereotypes and this hinders people identifying others. Many people
have their own life backgrounds and most of their decisions are mainly from them. Therefore,
it is easy to make biased thoughts about people. From my own experience, One of my best friends were
not the favorable one to me at first because of his hair and clothes. He had red hair and wore jeans with
holes. From my backgrounds, I regarded him as the one who often violates the rules of schools and
I tried to be away from him because of his bad impressions. However, through having time together,
I found myself were making hasty decisions about evaluating him. He was diligent and polite to elders.
Not only that , he was popular among students by his particular leadership and jokes.
Likewise, many people make wrong judgement by their stereotypes.
To sum up, I firmly believe that people should not entirely depend on first impressions when they
judege others . This is largely because people are different from their first impressions.
Not only that, people make wrong evatuation about people because of their stereotypes.
