A substantial number of parents prefer to grow their children up in a big city because they can have respectively more chances to obtain better education. However, contrary to the popular opinion, I strongly believe that it is more beneficial to grow children up in countryside. The rationale behind this is that countryside not only provides more places for children to play freely without worrying about car accidents, but also prevents them from exposing to harmful environmental pollutions.
First of all, children living in countryside have a freedom to play whenever, wherever and whatever they want. It is largely because a countryside does not have much traffic which is a fatal factor threatening children's safety. Usually, hundreds of cars are rushing at the moment in a big city, and children cannot recognize whether they are in danger or not, and running wherever they intend to. Therefore, children in a big city are always exposed to car accidents if there are no caregivers' attention. To illustrate, the result of an anual survey of the last year conducted by Korean traffic administration shows that 63% of casualty by car accidents are children, and two third of those children were hit by car during playing just in front of their houses. Contrarily, percentile of children casualty caused by car accident in countryside are only 12%. This proves that a great number of cars a big city has threaten children's safety.
Moreover, countryside contributes to providing children a good environmental condition to grow well up without pollution related diseases. An important reason is that countryside does not have many factories contaminating air and water and concrete buildings weakening infants' immunity. For example, my 3-year-old cousin had lived in a newly built apartment in a big city. Then, because of toxic air by artificial pigments on the wall and furniture in the house affected her and she became vulnerable to the outer stimulations. As a result, she had been suffered from asthma, atopy and bronchitis. Such seriousness of her health made her parents to decided to move to countryside, and they did. Now, one year later, surprisingly, nobody recognize whether she suffered from such a serious illness. By fresh air and healthy nature of countryside, she becomes a healthy and sturdy child. If her parents had been persisted to stay at a big city, she would have still suffered from various illnesses.
In conclusion, I firmly insist that children should be raised in countryside. The reason is that countryside does have relatively little harmful factors to threatening children's healths such as cars or pollutions than a big city. All in all, health is the most important factor to be considered when growing children up. |
