Among people there is an argument as to whether by watching television, people can learn much more than by reading books. Although some people can say that since television has more advantageous aspects such as the efficieny of vision and the promptness, getting a knowledge from television is more efficient, as far as I know, I think that it is the real learning with the help of books that provide people with real advantageous points. In this essay, I will briefly present two reasons to support my assertion.
First of all, the more watch television, the more you may be exposed to distrations. To be specific, on TV, since there are a lot of channels that can give you funny things, even if you watch TV with the intention of learning information, you might change the channel into other one. As from my experience, after class arriving at home, I always watch educational program on TV, however, whenever the program is boring, I often change the channel in other one that can give funny things. Consequently, watching TV will not be helpful to people due to the distractions.
Secondly, reading books on the purpose of learning a knowledge is more professional than watching TV. This is because, usually, books deal with a topic in a book in more depth while TV deal a topic just 1 or 2 minutes on screen. According to the Korean research deparmentment, it is evident that most of the people read a book when they need a professional knowledge. Additionally, considering the physical and psychological aspects, people have a tendency to get a knowledge through books since brain is stimulated by imagination by reading a book.
To summarize, taking all these factors mentioned above into account, we will easily reach the conclusion that in order to learn information, it is more efficient to read a book rather than watch TV. |
