Nowadays, people usually think that people have less conversation with family, friends, or neighborhoods compared to the past. Most of them would blame television as a primary cause of the lack of communication. However, I believe that television hasn't destroyed communication among friends or family, but actually improved the relationship between people thesedays.
To begin with, television enables family to spend time together. Nowadays, it's hard for most families to eat together and have conversation, because both parents and children are busy working and studying. Therefore, television watching time can be a chance for those families to gather together at home and have conversations. Also, it might be little bit awkward for family to seat together and talk about their daily lives, or they might have nothing to say each other. Watching television can be a perfect way to get away from those situations. By watching television, family can find some topics to talk about, and it would creat a comfortable situation to have conversations.
Moreover, watching television allows neighbors, friends, or coworkers to have smooth conversations. Sometimes, people feel awkward spending time together with other people because they don't know what to say about. Usually, people choose television programs as a topic. There are a lot of thngs to talk about about television programs, and when people share opinions about the events, games, television programs itself, they wouldn't feel unconfortable anymore. Besides, by debating about certain issues from television, people would be able to get to know each other much deeper, such as their values or hobbies.
In conclusion, even though television might have some bad effects on people's health nowadays, I believe television has no negative impacts on people's relaionship between others. On the other hand, television can be a bridge relating family, neighbors, or friends, by providing topics and comfortable talking environment. |
