An ongoing debate exists whether television or movie negatively influneces on children's behaviors. Regarding this controversial issue, I strongly believe that television or movie is deadly harmful to children's behaviors for the following two signifcant reasons. First of all, too much violence is displayed on T.V or movie. Children are lack of ability to discern between right or wrong and copy actor's behaviors in the real lives. This is why there are many school violences. Children accept the violences without hesitation becasue they think it seems cool and nice. One of my best friends was a good student while he was in an elementary school. However, after he entered the middle school, he started smoking and had fighting with students of other schools.
it was the result of watching too many harmful movies. Likewise, many students imitate bad behaviors of movie or t.v because they do not have their own norms of identifying right and wrong.
Secondly, most of t.v programs or movies are for adults. There are some t.v programs and movies which is made for children but the number of them is very small compared to ones for adults. Not only that, most of children are curious about adult' life and they can easily get and watch them even though there are some regulation about that. This discloses them to sexual scenes and adult cultures, which can be shocking to them. This is so detrimental that can affect negatively for their entire lives. From my own experience, when I was an elementary student, one of my neighbors had movies, which included sexual scences from start to the end. It was shocking and disgusting and I could not believe that is happening between two people. I could not stop thinking about it and I needed long time to escape from those thoughts.
In sum up , I firmly believe that television or movie can negatively affect on childrens' behaviors because there are many programs for adults that is shocking to children. In addition, it is even worse because many violence scenes create school violence as children mimic actors' behaviors. |
