Few years ago in Korea, a teenager killed his little brother with an axe because he wasn't able to distinguish between reality and the virtual reality. People maintain that games can teach us various lessons in life such as strategies and rules. However, I am in favor of the notion that games, especially computer games make people mentally ill because once you get addicted to it, you can cause severe problems in society, and also people tend to get excessively preoccupied when playing games and can devastate his own life.
Mostly, games have many negative effects. games induce people to cause serious trouble in society. People are apt to get addicted when they are playing games such as R.P.G computer games because they face challenge within the game everyday and due to fact that people attain accomplishments when they resolve a quest, they get more and more absorbed in to the game, and finally in the worst case, they lose the sense of what is reality and what is not. To illustrate, a few years ago in Korea, a teenager murdered his little brother with an axe that was identical to what he was using in the R.P.G game. He eventually lost control of himself thinking rationally, and in that sense, he also lost his ability to differentiate the reality and the virtual reality. He was immediately sent to the facility where people cure mental ailments. Therefore, I think computer games do not teach us practical lessons inlife, but in reverse, they harm us.
Moreover when one's life is concerned, games can desolate an individual's life. I'm not talking about solely computer games, but I'm considering gambling as games also such as black jack or poker. Computer games or gambling, they both have similarities in breaking down one's life because even though people acknowlege that it's destructing their life, they can't just let go of them because they have a strong sense of confidence that their going to win the next chance. For example, when you go to Las Vegas, you can find people who are begging for money because they don't have any cash to go back home. However, I once wittnessed a scene a man gving the begger a few dollars. The shocking thing was that after he grabbed some cashes, he didn't go straight to grab a cab. Instead, he ran to the casino and spent all the money he received. In this regard, I think games are far from teaching us lessons in our life but rather desolating our life.
