There might be some people who think that parents should devote more time to doing schoolwork with their children. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for the two subsequent reasons.
To begin with, children can learn how to cooperate with others.
To be specific, they have to share their goals with members of the same team and set plans together to manage them. By doing this, they can naturally cooperate with other people. For example, when I was a child, I used to play basketball with my father and younger brother every Sundays. Usually, my brother and I were on the same team, so we had to defeat my father. Since we had the same goal, we passed the ball each other and used a lot of tricks together as planned. It eventually helped us to learn how to work together.
On top of that, children can concentrate on their classes more.
To explain, playing sports causes them to relieve stress from studying. Consequently, productivity in school dramatically increase.
For instance, there is a study conducted by National Children Institute. Researchers divided respondents into two groups. In the first group, children were required to study with their parents after school, while children in the second group were asked to play football or hide-and-seek with their parents. The result was interesting. Researchers found out that the children from the latter group participated in classes much more active than the others, and this led them to get higher grades.
In conclusion, children can learn how to cooperate and focus on their classes more by playing sports with their parents. In this regard, I believe that parents would rather spend a lot of time playing games or sports with them. |
