Both of the reading passage
and the lecture are both about the wave farms. The author of the reading
passage believes that the wave farms will be increasingly common in the
future. However, the lecturer points out that some experts take these
advantages as just an illusion.
Firstly, the author of the
reading states that the wave farms make use of waves that are constant and
predictable. The lecturer opposes this idea by saying that the author fails is
fail to consider one important factor; malfunction of wave farms’ facilities'.
Due to technical problems, the converter got broke down frequently. As a
result, the amount of power generated tends to fluctuate.
Secondly, the author
mentioned that wave- energy facilities have been proven to be environmentally
friendly. The lecturer casts doubt on this idea by saying that the
converter used for the wave-energy facilities contains many harmful chemical
substances. If these chemical leak in the ocean, it will negatively impact on
the marine environment.
Lastly, the author of the
reading passage believed that the wave farms do not have a negative impact on
the natural beauty of surrounding landscapes. On the other hand, the lecturer
rebuts this idea by saying that the wave farms are highly visible. It is Bbecause the converter hasve to be painted with bright colors.
While
both of the reading passage and the lecture deal with the using of wave
farms, the lecturer effectively opposes all points made in the reading
passage.
