It is of great worth to discuss whether or
not when students have to work projects as team, they can learn much more
effectively than they work alone on projects. While some people might agree
with the statement, others might disagree with it. As far as I am concerned, I
agree with the notion that student must work together to finish projects, which
help student learn much more.
To begin with, working alone on projects is
too stressed out. The fundamental reason is that if student must finish the
project alone, they are likely to be concerned about what to do. As a result, they
will feel like doing the project is a waste of time and become unhappy in
school. In fact, stress is one of the primary factors of illness through
weakening the immune system. Thus, students are more like to be mentally and
physically weak. A few weeks ago, I had a change to read op-ed piece that was
related to the topic. It described the result of a survey conducted by Seoul
National University in 2015. In the survey, 43 percent of all students suffer
adverse health effects from stress that are related to work on projects alone.
Additionally, 75 percent of all doctor’s office visits are for stress-related
ailments and complaints. Interestingly, researchers found a relationship between
the stress and diseases such as headaches, high blood pressure, and insomnia.
On the top of that, working together on
projects plays an important role in broadening students’ perspective. This is
mainly because students can be readily exposed to the different ideas and thoughts
that they have never known before while interacting and socializing with
friends who have different majors, interests, and talents. Consequently,
students can take a quantum leap in intellectual growth. From my experience,
when I was in high school, I had to finish a team project to discuss about European
culture. As a result, I could learn about a wide variety of cultural things
such as music, food, and clothing. This was because I talked with other
classmates and shared their prepared materials with each other.
To sum up, it is a better way for students
to do assignment together in terms of reliving stress and broadening their
perspective. For these reasons, I agree with the notion that student have to
work together on their projects to learn much more effectively than alone. |
