▶ Your Answer : Being one of the focal points most deliberations in the modern societies, education-related topics often induce intense discussions. Obviously, people from different paths of lives have diverse and sometimes even diametrically opposing viewpoints about this. While some people believe that having more time with their children doing schoolwork is better, others put more emphasis on spending more time playing games or sports. I personally believe that the latter is more effective and beneficial for children’s future success for the following two subsequent reasons.
To begin with, assuming that the games or sports need should be played in a team, children can develop their social skills by playing games or sports with others. Since every team member has their own role and should take care of each other to realize their goal or win, it can be a good chance for the children to learn teamwork. According to a recent research conducted by The National University of Tokyo, children who have been exposed to more situations working in a team end up more successful in the future. This is because our society tends to treat interpersonal skills is one of the most important ability people should have, and playing games or sports in a team can also be those situations.
Another aspect needs to be addressed is that sparing more time other than schoolwork can be a good chance for children to find where they want to work in in their future. Generally speaking, what we learn in school is limited and there are a lot of jobs which you never experience the work in school such as musicians, dancers, or athletes. From my personal experience, thanks to my parents spent a lot of time playing sports with me when I was young, I could realize my dream of becoming an athlete of baseball. My father and I did catch-ball almost every weekend and it leads to my interest in doing baseball where I am working as a job.
To sum up, children can enhance their social skills and have more chances to find the field they want to work in the future by giving more chances to play games or sports. In this regard, making children spend more on gaming or playing sports is better than dedicate more time to schoolwork.
