I totally agree with the statement that
movies tell a lot about the country for three reasons.
First, movie scenes show various landscape and outlook of the country.
There are not many people who’ve been to Coasta Rica. So it is natural to say “I
don’t know about Costarica well”. However, what if every people who have seen the
movie “Jurassic Park” realize that the movie was taken in Coasta Rica? Hundreds
of million people who saw the movie wouldn’t feel that they have no idea about
the country.
Second, movies often include important historic event about the
country.
In Korea, there are a lot of movies which dealt with Korea War. It was a very
important event which happened in 1950 and affected Korea until now. The
country is now one and only divided nation on earth. Over 1 million people were
separated with their family at that time and many of them never met each other again.
There is a famous movie named “Brothership”, and this was shown over more than
20 countries.
Finally, movies appear how
people live in the country.
There are few movies without
actors. They talk, laugh, and live with each other. For instance, it is easy to
watch a movie that unmarried couples live together in French movie which is not
common in Japan. Furthermore, the style of humors they make is differ from
country to country.
For these reasons, I believe movies show many parts of the country.
