▶ Your Answer :It is great worth to discuss whether or not
one quality that a successful leader must have is to make decision quickly.
Some might agree with this statement saying it is very essential ability for a
leader in these fast-paced world; others might disagree with it thinking on the
way around. As I am concerned, I do not believe that quick decision makes
leader to be seen successful. In this essay, I will show and develop my opinion
as specific as I can in the next paragraphs: being a well-planned leader and
giving their proponents trust.
To begin with, quick decision by leaders
may lead their group in a wrong way. It does not take genius to know that
having well-made plan rather than making insightful decision can lead their
followers safely. Even though in the world like these days in which everything
changes day by day, planned decisions can be assumed as a must-have quality for
good leaders. Recent news about huge company gives us an apt example which can
support this argument. Recently, Korean Air Line, one of the best airline
companies in Korea, was sued for CEO’s overusing of his power. He had
established a food company which were owned by his brother-in-law, and made
them to produce every food for airlines. When this problem was raised by media,
their first reaction cracked up people. They denied every suspicion by suing
every journalists and media for releasing fake news. Trying to lessen anti
campaigns against the company, CEO apologized to public, emphasizing they did
everything legitimately, but it seemed to bit late for stopping huge damage
they have to face. Putting aside whether they are guilty or not, if the CEO had
deliberated and made planned for every side effects for their decisions, it
would not been that serious problem.
Furthermore, quick decisions usually are
done in emergency situations, and leaders often make decisions for avoiding
what they are facing. And these quick decisions by leaders might give their advocates
variable belief. What I mean by that is that leaders in any group from politic
group to business group should instill their belief to their followers, but by
making quick decision, they can make their followers confused. A study
conducted by Korea University shows that inconsistent decisions by their
leaders make them feel pessimistic about what they are doing. More than 80% of
respondents feel stable when they received orders based on the belief which is
fundamental for their groups, even though those orders were given in a delayed
time. The main factor of this response is that workers or proponents of that
group applied to those groups wishing to work or act along with groups’
believes. Right decisions with deliberation are conducive to grasp minds of
advocates by giving optimistic impression about their leaders.
To sum up what I mentioned above, I
strongly believe that quick decision cannot be one of standards for defining a
good leader since either quick decisions can be wrong in many times causing
huge damage to their groups or give their followers wrong impression about
them. |
