In any educational institutions, teachers play tremendous role in class. Their prime goals is to infuse in appropriate knoweldge to students, however, they should also relate well with students as they spend most school time with them.
First, a teacher in a school is a person with authority. A teacher should be serious but also be friendly towards students so they can easily talk to the teacher regarding any issues. This communication between teachers and students is also a significant part of secondary education. For example, when I transfered to another middle school, I had gone through many difficulties. I faced numerous challenges concerning peers, school grades and was unable to adapt well in the first two months. Within this period, however, my homeroom teacher and I got together regulary for a councel. This infact helped me to uniderstand and be engaged with the new school. I still remember the teacher that had helped me, and appreciate for her caring.
Second, it is likely that students learn better if they feel more connected with the teacher. Students would concentrate better to the lectures that are held by their most favored teacher and this may be more important than the teacher's actual ability to give knoweldge. My personal example can be used here to elaborate my explanation. When I was in 10th grade, my history teacher changed three times over one year. One of the teacher, as I remember, was extremely enthusiastic and also very friendly towards us providing many free meetings. The other two in contrast were stern and refused to provide proper lessons. I noticed that my school grades sharply rose when I was taught by the teacher that I personally liked.
Finally, a teacher must acquire numerous abilities in order to be defined as a good teacher. It is imperative that they not only strive for giving knoweldge but also make constant efforts to be engaged with the students. |
