▶ Your Answer : There might be some people who believe that teachers should receive payment by students’ performance in academic studies. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for two subsequent reasons. First, receiving payments according to students’ performance in only academic studies is ultimately not beneficial for students. Second, performance of students is not made by teachers’ influence. First of all, pay of teachers received by students’ academic performance is ultimately not beneficial for students. This is because teachers can be influential to students in terms of not only academic performance but also other things such as creativity and personality. With only focusing on students’ academic performance, teachers can be negligent in educating creativity and personality development. According to a research done by JM institutes, students who were in the school having teachers receiving regular salary were more creative and well-balanced than students who having teachers paid by students’ academic performance. Moreover, these creative and well-balanced students have better performance in colleges and industries. This was due to the fact that these students were provided various experiences and extra activities besides academic knowledge. On top of that, students’ performance is not influenced by only teachers’ teaching ability. Because students’ performance is built by many factors such as parents’ influence, friends, and individual abilities, it is not desirable that teachers get paid by students’ performance. In my case, when I was in middle school, my best friend Susan was so well at math. I preferred asking her my questions to asking teacher. So, I could have got a very good grade at math. In other case, my another friend MJ was good at science subject because his mother was a scientist. In case of my older sister, she had spent much time to go over her notes, so she had much better grades than other classmates. These examples show that not only teachers’ teaching skills but also other factors can affect to students’ academic performance. In conclusion, it is not beneficial for students that their teachers get paid by students’ performance, and also their performance is not affected by only teachers’ abilities. In this regard, I firmly believed that teachers should not be paid according to how well students perform in academic studies. |
