It is of great worth to discuss whether parents should spend a lot of time playing games or sports with their children or devote more time to doing schoolwork with them. The answer greatly varies depending on the people's perspective. But I have firm opinion about this question that having playing time with their children is better. I'll give two reasons to support my argument.
To begin with, playing entertainment things with their children can enhance their level of mentality. To be specific, playing is the most familiar deed. Indeed, parents is the most closed relationship for children. So this combination, playing activity with their parents, can cause positive effects to the children, what is called synergy effects. Therefore, they easily can become mature and have sound mentality. There was a survey conducted by a group of professor majoring in Psychology in Korea University, with 200 students as a respondent. The purpose of the study was to figure out whether the students who have this experience that playing joyful activity with their parents have sound attitude. They tracked them for 2 years and gathered lots of information about them. What they found was extremely intriguing. The overwhelming 85% have good reputations among their friends and willing to do volunteer work with no strings attached.
On top of that, studying with their parents can set off negative impacts on their children. To be specific, basically studying is just boring and tedious things. This is natural inclination to the study for them. In spite of this, they have already spent significant amount of time to study in the school and academy. Once the parents want to spend time to study with them, the children will be under the lots of pressure. And then, in sequence, there are high possibilities that the relationship between the parents and their children will be worse. I'll take my personal experience to clarify what I mean. When i was in middle school, my mother really had high level of interest in my study. She always questioned about my grades and the level of studying what I belonged to and wanted to help me study. It was a really tough time because I couldn't do anything freely. Finally, I became an inmate in the Seoul university hospital for a month because I couldn't bear high pressure.
Taking improving their sound mentality and leading to negative effects when they have time to study with them into consideration, I hold to my tenet that having enough time to play activity with their child is more beneficial to the children. |
