Many people say that carefully made decisions are beneficial for them, because they can take enough time to think about every matter. Although it sometimes works well, in my opinion, I prefer making quick decisions because this society requires them. In addition, fast made decisions frequently save lives and money.
More than anything else, we need to make decisions as soon as possible in order to live this society. As the world is getting faster than before, it demands people to act more rapidly than before. Examination can be a great example to illustrate this social trend. Whenever I took tests in high school, the given time was too short for me to solve every question. The reason why teachers gave such a short time for students to solve all of the question is that instructors wanted their pupils to develop fast decision making ability, which would be crucial factor for them when they go in the real world. Since this ever-changing society requires more 'speed', quick decision is necessary for people in order to keep in step with this world.
In addition, the faster decisions are made, the more lives people can save. In an urgent situation such as car accident and disaster, administration must make quick decisions to respond those tragedies as efficiently as possible. For example, in 2002, my hometown was suddenly flooded because of heavy rain. All the roads were destroyed and many houses were swept. In that situation, the principal of my community made people evacuate to the safest place, and thus many lives could be saved. If he had been hesitant, a great number of people would have been dead helplessly in the flood. In this sense, people need to decide fast when they face unpleasant events.
Finally, quick decisions also save money. When a great opportunity comes, fast decision making not only can save money but also can produce a great deal of profits. For instance, my mother usually purchase many products when the supermarket is going on sale. Since the period of sale-off is just one or two days, she moves fast and decides what items she needs. On top of that, in stock market, many people have to decide quickly on whether they should sell their stocks or buy more. This is very important because just a few seconds make some people rich and others fail. In this respect, fast decision making is very advantageous in our lives.
To sum up, I firmly believe that fast decisions far outweigh carefully made decisions. The rationale behind this is that this society requires spontaneity of people, and quick decisions save people's lives and bring in more profits. As for me, it is nonsense to define the term "fast" as "wrong". Rather, too much careful decisions are disadvantageous to survive this modern life which changes every second.
