Some people believe that the Earth is being harmed by human activity. Others feel that human activity makes the Earth a better place to live. What is your opinion? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. |
Some people may disagree with me but i think that human activity is ruining the planet Earth day by day. Hence, everyone in the world must know how to protect the Earth, and how we are harming it.
Since the world has developed, there are more factories, cars and powerstations than before. Everyday, they produce dirty fumes, dust, waste, sewage, chemical fertilisers, and pesticides. These cause river pollution and dirty the air. In addition, burning of forests, overcultivation, mining for minerals and deforestation are causing the land pollution.
A huge number of activities that we usually do are destroying the clean, fresh air and river, and some fine soil. The more we do these activities, the faster we ruin the Earth. If we continue, not trying to protect, we will not be able to live as long as the past.
These days, the vice-president of America, Al Gore, had made a film called 'An Inconvenient Truth' which is about global warming. He told the world about the climate change caused by human, and its disastrous effects upon it:drought, flood and glaciers melting instantly (which will make the sea level to rise), and easy things that we can at least help to reduce the global warming.
Global warming is caused by the buring fossil fuels in thermal powerstations to produce electricity, deforestation which releases carbon dioxide, motor vehicles which produce carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, and solvents called CFCs which are found in hairsprays and inside fridges.
There are number of things that we all can do to reduce the global warming. We can ride bicycles instead of cars, reduce using air-conditioners, use solar panel or recycle things.
Our future depends on us, whether we help to protect the Earth, or continue harming it. Fortunately, a lot of people are trying hard to get our clean planet back. |
