In this rapidly changing world, it is becoming clear than good decision makers are likely to succeed in their job. When it comes to making decisions, while some advocate that it is better to let others make decisions for them, I believe that it is much more beneficial for people to make their own decisions. The rationale behind this belief is that it motivates people to work harder. On top of that, it leads people to succeed in their work.
To begin with, people become highly motivated to work hard when the decisions are drawn by them. This is mainly because a sense responsibility on their decision forces them to work at their best. From my personal experience, although my friends, parents and guidance teacher advised me to go other colleges, I decided to enter a university where was not recommended by anybody. Since I did not want people think that my decision was wrong, I tried all of my best to achieve the most desirable result in my academic learning. Not only that but also I held down several part-time jobs to help support myself through college. This, on top of holding multiple club leadership positions and squeezing in time at gym. As a result, I was named as the student of year and was honored with a full scholarship offer from graduate school. Had it not been for the responsibility to prove my decision was right, I would have never endured all of those painstaking works during my years in college.
In addition, It paves the way for people to become successful in their lives. It is true that good decisions makers are ideal leaders in any organization since their decision can have a positive influence on company's profit. According to a recent research conducted on major corporations, they all responded that the most important quality of being a good leader is to make smart decisions. This result can demonstrate the importance of decision making ability. However, if people depend on others to make decisions, they are likely to have no chance at all to test them as a good leader. To clarify, if a person wishes to become good at something, one has to practice for that. This principle is the same for decision making. If one wants to become a good decision maker, one has to make many minor decisions before making a major decision. This will be the only way to succeed in one's life. In this respect, it would be much more beneficial for people to make their own decisions.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly believe that people should never rely on others to make their decisions. This argument becomes clear when we consider the factors, such as, people become responsible for their decisions so that they work at their best, and also it gives people plentiful opportunities to practice decision making skill so that they can succeed in their work as a good decision maker. |
