After the rapid development caused the lack of natural resources including air, water and land, and the environmental pollutions, the whole world has started to concern about the sustainable development. From this point of view, I would like to change the transporting system of my hometown.
The gases emitted from cars and buses are the important sources of air pollution and if we can reduce the use of these automobiles, we can keep the environment clean and this so-called green system will make the development sustainable.
First of all, the public transportation would be changed to trams from buses. Trams and trains are the most environment-friendly vehicles. They can convey more peole with less energy and produce less pollution. Also, this kind of vehicle is easy to use even for disalbed people. Most eco-cities like Freibrug in Germany, constructed the tram system.
In addition, I would support building bicycle path and stimulate people to ride the bicycles. Bicycle is the most primitive and most humane vehicle in the world and it does not need any energy to move except your own physical strength. The citizens in my hometown would ride bicycles safely on the bicycle paths which traverse throughout the city. Bicycles also can paly a role of interconnecting transporter between your home and the tram stops.
Moreover, to reduce the number of cars, I would let people share cars. This sharing cars system allows people to take a key from one spot where they want among several renting places in city which would be constructed, and drive a car to another place and return it there. This system can maximize the use of one car by minimizing the time a car is not used, and therefore, can decrease the number of cars.
In short, I strongly believe innovation of transporting system including entry of trams instead of buses, bicycle paths and car-sharing project would render my hometown suitable for sustainable development and a better place to live. |
