Many students prefer wearing what they want to wear, because they emphasize on their own characteristic, which they believe can be best described by the way they wear. In opposition to this point, I strongly argue that schools have to allow students only to wear school uniforms. The rationale behind this is that in school uniform, students can be more organized and have a sense of unity. Additionally, it saves them a great deal of money.
More than anything else, wearing uniforms gives school more control on their students. Students are likely to be regulated much easier on the condition that they wear unified clothes, because they unconsciously do not want to harm the reputation of their school. For this reason, they tend to behave more carefully, be more silent, and concentrate on their school work better. On the other hand, when they are allowed to put on any clothes they would like to, they are easily disorganized. For example, when students take a field trip or picnic to other areas, they usually wear jeans, T-shirts, and caps. In this situation, they often make many troubles, and eventually most teachers feel them out of control. This can be commonly witnessed when we visit historical sites where many students visit as a field trip or picnic. In this respect, school uniforms are highly needed to regulate excessive behaviors of students.
In addition, uniforms encourage students to develop a sense of unity. This feeling makes many works done efficiently and fast, especially when they have to do tasks which require them to help each other. To illustrate, many companies distribute and force their workers to wear uniforms. It is seemingly bothersome, but actually this strengthens a sense of belonging between employees and employers. What is more, labors in uniforms often shows a higher spirit of collaboration each other when they work. Thanks to this policy, many companies are now enjoying higher productivity. This obviously indicates that school uniform is recommended in order for students to establish a feeling of unity.
Finally, school uniforms enable students to save a great amount of money. As we all know, the prices of clothes are so expensive that they are not easily affordable for ordinary people. Furthermore, since many students are very sensitive to the latest fashion, they are always trying to wear a season. For instance, when I was in high school, all the students were allowed to wear any clothes they liked in school. Thus, my friends and I frequently bought nice jeans and shirts to keep up with the fashion trend. When I knew that I spent thousands of dollars on my clothes in that year, I was very surprised and stopped doing that stupid extravagancy without any slightest hesitation. In order to prevent students from squandering unnecessary money on their outlooks, it is clear that introducing school uniform is unavoidable.
To sum up, I firmly believe that it is necessary for students to wear school uniform for their modest behavior, feelings of belonging, and saving money. Some people might say that school uniform would destroy creativity and distinct personality of students. However, as I mentioned above, the advantages of school uniforms surely would outweigh those of informal clothes.
