▶ Your Answer :
Some people think that high school students
are not necessary to learn basic economics. However, in my opinion, all high
school students should learn basic economics. There are two reasons; first if
you are not majoring economic in university, it is not easy to attach economics
when you go to university. Moreover, you can expand your general knowledge by
studying economics.
To start with, not all students will attach
economics when they go to college. When you are in high school, all the
students basically learn same subjects. However, if you go to college, you
select subjects you want to listen. If you do not know basic knowledge of
economics, then it will be difficult for you to know how the world crisis
happened and you lost your job. For example, my sister is majoring in chemical
but she is not interested in economic. While my family was talking about the
IMF crisis that happened in 1997, she didn’t understand. It is important to
know why IMF crisis happened even if you are not majoring economics. This
relates to your living in near future and could happen again.
Moreover, you can increase your basic
knowledge through studying economics. Most of the high school student goal is to
go to college. They need to take an university entrance test. It will help you
in university entrance exam or interview. For example, there was a questions
about economics in Korean test. For students who knew well about economics were
able to answer them quickly but for those who didn’t know, there were
struggling in time. Also, when in college interview, there was a question about
Free Trade Agreement. If high school students studied basic economics, it would
be easy for them to answer without hesitation.
To sum up, students will have less chance
to approach economics in college and economics will help high school students
pile general knowledges, For these reason I firmly believe that all high school
students should learn basic economics.
