Some people think that there is no remarkable difference in parents' involvement about their kids between in the past and in the present. However, in my opinion, nowadays, adults highly want their children to study harder than any other days because of the following two subsequent reasons.
To begin with, due to parent's greed, competition of education has been intensified since the 21th century. To be specific, parents want their kids to enter better universities and great companies. So, they are willing to care their children's studying because parents think that good universities guarantee to become great people. For example, I saw a lot of students whose parents always concern their children's studying. I could figure out that these parents spend most of their time involving education of their kids. So, I asked some of them why they are obsessed in higher education. They answered me that considering that their experience, they suppose that one of the factors which they succeed is background of great university. Since they also want their kids to become successful people, they highly concentrate on children's education . On top of that parents' interest about their kids' grades are inclined to make kids' grades higher. Because they always supervise kids' test scores and how much they study, children are bound to spend more time for studying. For example, there was a study conducted by the Korean Ministry of education to determine whether parent's involvement could actually affect their kids' grades. There were two group monitored. The first group was formed of students who are always cared by their parents and the second group consisted of students who are free from parent's intervention. The researchers compared the outcomes and concluded that the first group who highly tend to be supervised their parents have more higher grades than the second group have. The reasons are that students of the first group can know how much they study well by parents' advices and the students should more focus on studying due to parents' involvement.
To sum up, parent's eagerness about their kids' success has augmented concerns about kids' academic performance and thess concerns can make their children's grades higher. In this regard, I firmly believe that parents are more willing to oversee their children's education these days. |
