It might be difficult for parents to choose what gifts they should give to their children. Among a wide range of collections, if they could, they should choose gifts which could be beneficial for their children. In this sense, if I'm parent, I will give a book since it could contribute positively to development of children. They could establish proper values and gain instructions of life.
Children could learn what is wrong or right by reading a book. They could gain teachings from the book easily since they tend to thoroughly believe the contents of the book. Thus, the book could teach children about the wrong and the right. For example, suppose one child is reading 'Harry Potter'. The book is about a boy who fights against the evil. Even though he encounters a lot of difficulties, he defeats the evil and be honored from a number of people. By reading this book, the child will realize that he should act morally, otherwise he will be punished. This obviously means he not only learned to act in accordance with morality, but also learns he will be punished when he fails to do. Therefore, a book could be beneficial for children's lives.
Moreover, children could get teachings of life if they read a book. There are various books about people who were successful after hardship and endurance. To be more specific, the book named "Patience with Success" could fit into that category. This book is about Ban Ki-moon, who is the chief of the UN. He was born in a country side of Korea and he was very poor that he could not gain appropriate education. However, he had one slogan: he could be successful. He studied roughly 30 years for his dream to be the leader of the UN, and after painstaking efforts, he did it. When children read this kind of book, children could establish concrete dream and passion.
In conclusion, if I could give one gift to children, I will choose to give a book. This is because they could learn what is good or bad and get teachings. In addition, more they read books, the deeper mind they will have. |
