When in doubt about a certain decision, do you believe that it's better to take some kind of action or to think through the problem before acting? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations. |
When in doubt, it's always better to take action than to linger on a trouble, because only by acting on the matter can one actually acheive something, or solve the problem. Also, one shouldn't be afraid to take action, beacause worst that could happen is fail, and failure help people learn from their mistakes, and encourages them to do better at their next attempt.
When I was first learning Chinese, I did not know where to start, or how to start. I had a goal in mind: HSK(also referred to as the Chinese proficiency test.), but I did not know how to approach the goal. I spent much time planning how to go about studying. I would study the basic expressions, starting with verbs and nouns. And I disregarded things that weren't on my agenda. However, studying a language is a trickly problem. Language is such a big topic to master if one is only studying one aspect by one. One needs to just take a stab at it, not being afraid to make mistake when you speak out the words. I've taken Chinese class for 2 years now; and realizing that I can improve only by trying and speak out more and more even if I might be wrong, I've abandoned my "Chinese Study Agenda", and just tried stabing at the language from all aspects. As a high school student, I've realized this is not only true in languages but also in every other subjects, such as math and science. If one wants to improve one's skills, taking action, without fear of failing, is the only way to reach the goal.
Thomas Edison once said, "Failure is the mother of success." This famous quote comes from his own experiences. Even from his childhood, Thomas Edison was, unique. He had wild ideas and immaginations that others thought were foolish even at times, but he went ahead and experimented his ideas. For example, observing the helium making the baloon float, he made his friend drink it to see if it could make people fly. Although these radical actions even got Edison kicked out of school, he became a great inventor who made humanity's lives more convenient by inventing light blubs, sound-recording techniques, and so on. Nowadays, no one can blame his immagination, ideas, and even his failures, because those are what led Thomas Edison to be a great inventor he is known as.
From my personal experience studying a language, and Thomas Edison's failure before his success, leads me to see that one should not be afraid to take actions, because by taking action, you can be encouraged to do better and acheive things beyong your doubt.
