There has been a controversy over whether corporal punishment should be allowed by parents and teachers on children. Some people would say that physical punishment is effective to teach what is children's wrong behavior and thinking. However, in my opinion, corporal punishment can have negative effects on children growing up for several reasons.
First reason I think is that corporal punishment teaches children that it is acceptable to use force as a way of making a resolution while they are in troubles.By being given these type of experience, they are possible to have the wrong perception it is not bad to hit someone when they are angry. Later on, as they get older, these wrong cognition would affect them on a way of behavior.
In addition, corporal punishment can cause physical injury on children's body. There is no sure prediction that it would be safe to use physical punishment. At the moment, because of the inaccurate timing or angle of some tool or hands, the unexpected accident can be induced and thus children can be damaged on their skin or be broken bones or bruises. As a matter of fact, it is really said that some children have troubles with their result after they are received by physical punishment.
Finally, these corporal punishment also cause children to hurt emotionally or to be humiliated while parents or teachers are forcing physical punishment. The most dangerous problem about damage psychologically can be the cause for children to act misbehavior, juvenile delinquency and poor school performance. Moreover, these serious results is hard to restore in back because the period of the young is only one time. As a result of these action, they will live the rest of their lives, being regretful about their past.
In conclusion, corporal punishment brings about many negative impacts on the development of children physically and psychologically. On top of that, the wrong cognition lasts forever in their mind, which is potential to commit some bad behavior. For these reasons, I strongly believe that parents and educators should find an alternative way to teach their children over their fault.
