Some people claim that the most effective way for the government to conserve energy is to amplify the cost of gasoline and electricity. Their statement may be true since the economists say that because humans are rational, when the price increases, their demand must be lowered with the interpretation of supply and demand graph. However, this theory cannot fully recognize as a complete solution since these resources are essential which every individual must have it. If the government increases the price of gasoline and electricity, this act then degrades the life of poor people. According to the research done by one anthropologist, he claimed that 15% of people around the globe are living with less than five dollar. With these five dollars, they use it for essential living conditions such as electricity etc. By looking at this research, we can see that if the government raises the price up, their policy will lead to the demise for these poor people. Hopefully, the government has an alternative plan for preserving energy; setting the limits for the use of gasoline and electricity. This means that the government is going to supply each household with the limited electricity and gasoline each month so that these resources will not be wasted away. This kind of policy is ongoing. There is a policy that the government limits the waste for each industry. If they outreach the limit, they get penalties such as extra bill, held in prison or even the death penalty. By considering every facet of society, the most effective way for the government to conserve energy is to set the limits of gasoline and electricity use. Thus, I disagree with the assertion that raising the price of these resources is the most effective solution for keeping the energy.
