The leturer claims that studying in groups is not a effective way for several reasons below. This totally refutes the reading passage's assertion that studying in groups is very beneficial and effetive in my ways.
First, studying in groups are apt to cause students not to do their assignment. Besides, some students stop showing up. This make the members of the group confused and discouraged. However, the reading passage says that studying together encourages students to do better motivating each other.
Second, if students study together, there is definately certain gaps among knowlegde that each student has. Thus, students who are strong on a subject would take too much workload while weak students don't have to do anything. This directly rebuffs the reading passage's assertion that the members may be supported by each other and learn together in an effective way in groups.
Lastly, strong students miss too much time if they study in groups. They should review the very basic things although they know thoroughly about the concepts and definitions. On top of that, students tend to just go off-track if they get together losing their voluable time. This also refutes the reading passage's claim that much time can be saved by sharing information and investigation together.
In conclusion, the lecturer has a negative opinion about studying in groups because the reasons above while the reading passage supports that studying in groups is helpful. |
