▶ Your Answer : There might be some people who believe that the news media can provide people with trustworthy and just information. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for the following two subsequent reasons.
To begin with, media corporations tend to extort truth. To be specific, they are likely to report news to make people think in a certain way. They could be controlled by certain business companies or politicians. For example, I will talk about my father's experience to illustrate this point. When I was in middle school, he were running a company that produce and sell milk. However, a certain media corporation established a company to make milk, which became a rival in milk business. That media began to reportnews about my father's company, which were not true. By this, my father had a hard time in running his company. From this experience, I realized that the news media can be biased to its interests.
On top of that, the news media is likely to exaggerate a fact. To explain, since they have to make profit they are likely to make news more stimulating. They can use the exaggerating method to allure citizens. More exaggerating, more profit. A survey was conducted by the Korean Broadcasting Association with 1,000 citizens as respondents. The purpose oh the survey was to undertand the consensus view of the sincerity of the news media. The majority had responded that they did not believe all the news the media reported. The overwhelming 75% had claimed that it is not so reliable since it also run the business that make money. To create profit, it had to make small news to be big one, which can have people be captivated. This survey demonstrates that people does not trust media as a whole.
To sum up, the news media is inclined to make fact extorted and exaggerated. In this regard, I fimly believe that the news media is not trustworthy. |
