Undoubtedly, exercise plays a significant role in people’s daily lives in many of the places where they work or play. Some people prefer exercising. alone while others prefer exercising with a group of people. Both sides may have their own reasons to support their views. If I were asked to choose one, I would say exercising with a group of people is better. There are reasons as follows.
To begin with, by exercising with other people, they can mingle well with people from different backgrounds. It exposes them to different lifestyles, customs, and cultures. Such exposure is likely to help them to acknowledge that different values exist, to understand this diversity, and ultimately be comfortable with it. For example, many research teams, including Tokyo Research Center, analyzed data from two groups of young adults. One group consisted of those who had exercised with a group of people, and the other group was made up of those who had exercised alone. The researchers found that the former was more likely to have a higher level of open-mindedness than the latter. In particular, the first group respected foreigners, befriended them and treated them equally. On the other hand, the second group tended to ignore foreigners, single them out, and discriminate against them. This implies that exercising with other people can expand their horizons on a global level.
In addition, exercising with a group of people allows people to improve their sense of responsibility. Playing sports with others requires many obligations such as managing time, abiding by rules, and respect others. When such obligations are fulfilled, they are likely to realize the importance of being responsible. For example, my youngest brother used to be lazy and selfish. He has changed little by little after he started participating basketball team with his classmates. He realized that his punctuality could help him mingle well with others more easily while his laziness could negatively affect everyone. Naturally, he became more prompt with time, played his part better, and even encouraged others to be more responsible. Without this experience, he would still have been irresponsible.
All things considered, I strongly believe that the advantages of exercising with others together far outweigh those of exercising alone for the reasons I have mentioned above. All in all, the importance of working out with people cannot be overestimated in life. |
