I do not agree with the statement: Universities should give the same amount of money to their students’ sports activities as they give to their university libraries. It is a matter of major types of subject students study in the universities. There are several significant reasons why I disagree with this. First of all, a certain amount of money should be given to university libraries because there are quite a number of subjects in a university and the number of books related to those would be tremendous. Libraries are supposed to provide them in order to help students further their knowledge in a right way. Moreover, a lot of students go to libraries to study, do researching and do project because there is no other perfect places like libraries with full of data and quiet atmosphere. Therefore, it is a duty for the universities to keep the places as good as possible. On the other hand, sports activities cannot be considered as significant as university libraries. The main purpose of going to a university is to increase knowledge in several subjects students choose. Sport is included in a single subject: Physical Education. It is inappropriate to spend same amount of money to a single subject and other subjects as a whole. Apart from that, if students are forced to join the frequent sports activities, it would affect students’ study a lot beside from tiredness. To sum up, I disagree with putting the equal amount of money to sports activities and libraries because libraries are one of parts of universities but sports activities are too specific with not enough significant reasons for it. In case of an athletic university, it would be a different story because majority of subjects students study are related to sports. |
