Games have accompanied with the development of human civilization. They give people not only the great social relationship between people but pleasure in daily lives. Some people might agree with this idea, focusing on the positive traits of a game. In my point of view, however, it is not beneficial for adults to play games, whereas it could be enjoyable for children. This is because the nature of game incites grown-ups only to win and gain more. Also, it leads to poor productivity.
There is a big difference between kids and mature people in the attitude of playing match. While the former only seek amusement from those activities, the latter pursue money from them. As a result, gambling has been a major way of game in adults' world. In Las Vegas, many people visit and play gambles such as slot machine. These instill a blind faith of getting huge amount of money into partakers, making them addicted to them and go bankrupt. This has become a serious social problem and U.S. government is taking actions to deal with the failed people by building advisor institute and campaign. Regardless of its efforts, the number of victims are not likely to decrease, rather more grown-ups are gathering to "house" with the dream of obtaining millions. This social tendency clearly indicates that game between adults produces gambling which demands a person to beat others in order to grab a lot of money.
In addition, playing has a negative impact on working efficiency. As I mentioned above, it is very hard to control and quit once a game is started because of its addictive characteristic. Ultimately, people cannot do their tasks properly and finish them on time. When I was in college, I really loved to hang out with my friends. We used to go pubs and play board games there with drinking beer. The activity was so enjoyable that I could not imagine my life with out it. Although the next day was my final examination, my friends and I could not stop this exciting game and stayed up all night with out studying for the test. Eventually, I got a really terrible score on my test and had to take a make-up test to compensate my poor result. Judging from personal experience, it is evident that games are not advantageous to adults who have to be productive in order to fulfill their given duties.
To sum up, I strongly argue that games are not as crucial for grown-ups as they are for the young. Some people might say that a little entertainment can give people refreshment and increase profits. However, they have to remember the fact that the true identity of game is "attraction", and that enchants people to be engrossed in it, never to escape from the deep swamp of game itself.
