- Some people prefer to work for themselves or own business. Others prefer to work for an employer. Would you rather be self-employed, work for someone else, or own a business? -

A company is mainly comprised of a boss and many employees. The former is in charge of his business, whereas the latter are just working for their entrepreneur. Some people might believe that a leader of a firm is much better for their high income and valuable experience. In my opinion, however, I prefer being a worker of the company to being a president because I can have more free time to spend with my family. Also, it benefits me with more stable life.
Frequently, the heads of a business cannot secure their spare time. Although they earn a great amount of money, it is meaningless if they have a slim chance of spending the salary, especially to improve their relationship with family. My father is a very famous chinese cuisine cook and he ran his own restaurant five years ago. At that time, he was so busy with cooking and managing that my family could hardly gather in a same place at same time. My sister, Jully and I always missed the happy family life of which we could travel around the country together and have an excellent dinner outside of home. After he sold his restaurant and started to work as a chief cook in Hilton Hotel, he could have much time to enjoy with us than before, and now all of my family members are very satisfied with my father's job position. Judging from personal experience, it is clear that being an employee in a company guarantees more quality time to share with family.
On top of this, as being a principal position in a business is too risky when economic recession comes, it is wiser to be a subordinate worker. Korea had serious economic strike called IMF in 1998, making many companies collapsed and go bankrupt at that time. On the contrary, if a person is fired or laid off from his working place, he just can seek another job and sustain his life. I have two relatives' story in order to support my idea. One of them, Jack, was a leader of a small business. When he first got his company off the ground, he was very proud of his position and earned a substantial money. However, in 1998 when IMF struck in Korea, his financial condition was totally destroyed and became very poor. He is now living in a small house but has a hard time raising his children. In contrast to that, the other relative, Tom, is now enjoying stable life with constant income. He sometimes moved his job to another more flexible working environment, so even in 1998's economic risk, it never had an impact on his financial condition. From this story of my relatives, it is obvious that being an employee is much advantageous with elastic career alteration and established earning.
To sum up, I strongly argue that workers get more benefits than a leader of a company for the reasons of life stability and spare time they can have. Some people might denounce me that I am the type of person who always tries to avoid challenges. However, they have to remember the proverb which best explains the merits of being an employee, not a boss, that goes, "To kill two birds with one stone."
