Costumer service is one of the most important factors in this complex society. Some people tend to complain unsatisfactory comodities or service in writing because they believe it would prevent one from forgetting what they want to say. In opposition to this point, I firmly argue that complaining in person in those situation is more effective because of better communication and time saving.
More than anything else, people can communicate better when they speak directly to others. They can express their opinion effectively using their voice tone, facial expression and other body language. They may choose the best option depending on the situation they face. It could not be done if they complain only by writing since they are unable to see the reactions of recipient. For illustrate, I took my broken notebook to the service center last month and told the mechanic what was wrong with it by demonstrating its malfunction. The mechanic understood the problem much easier compared to the last time I sent a message with my wife. My personal experience shows that complaining personally instead of in writing inhance the communication.
Futhermore, we can save our time by complaning in person. When we face with the employee in the service center, we can react directly to what employee suggests. However, if we sent out complaint, we would have to waite until their answers come to us. For example, I sent a complaint letter to the bennigans restaurant last year, stating that the part time worker was not kind and even disregard my request to bring some sources. Unfortunately, I forgot to mention the worker's name or her appearance and the bennigans sent me a letter back asking those questions. If I complained in the spot, this waste of time would have not happened. This reveals that complaining personally can save our time to get the feedback.
In sum, I strongly believe that it is better to grumble about our goods or service in person rather than in writing. The reasoning behind this is that we can save our precious time as well as communicate our intention better. All in all, we should therefor use our personal approach when we have to complain about our unsatisfactory situation. |
