should schools teach students about specific careers and jobs instead of general knowledge and subjects? |
There might be different opinions regarding whether schools should teach students about specific careers and jobs instead of general knowledge and subjects. Personally, I disagree with the statement for two reasons. First, I think general knowledge and subjects help students set a solid foundation for achieving success. In addition, students can develop their aptitude. First, by learning general knowledge and subjects, most students can form a sound foundation for achieving success. In general, understanding specific careers and jobs is helpful for students to be successful. However, to learn that specific knowledge or expertise, students should accumulate a variety of basic knowledge and subjects first. Without those sound foundations, they're likely to decrease the efficiency of their studying and thus only get superficial knowledge. For example, If a person would like to achieve success in the finance market, he should learn a variety of knowledge and subjects, such as economics, mass, statistics and psychology. To be specific, economics help him know the flow of market. As well, mass and statistics allow him to be familiar with the numbers. Lastly, psychology is helpful in the stock trading market. In this context, student should be taught general knowledge and subjects by their school. In addition, studying general knowledge and subjects is helpful in developing students' aptitude. In today's society, many students tend to decide on their job according to their future career's income or narrow knowledge, not their aptitude. However, there's something in their workplace besides getting a job; it's hard for them to survive in modern competitive society. For example, after getting a job, people have to complete their job performances successfully in order to achieve success in their field. However, in the case of those people who don't consider their talents and interest in getting a job, they are likely to decrease the efficiency of working and thus can not survive in fierce competition. In this sense, students should consider their job based on their interests and talents because it helps them achieve success in their career. Therefore, school should help them improve their aptitude through general knowledge and subject. In conclusion, general knowledge and subject have a bigger influence on students than the knowledge relate to specific careers or job. It allows students set a sound foundation for achieving their success and develop their potential interests and talents. Therefore, it is quite obvious that teaching general knowledge and subjects far outweighs teaching specific careers and jobs. |
