Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Exams encourages students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. |
There is an argument regarding whether exams make students learn better or not. Some people might say that it is not good way for students to take a test for their efficience of studies because exams could play a role as obstacle to students striving to study hard due to the stress of exams. However, I disagree with this opinion in that exams allow students to focus on their courses and keep from being sluggish.
First of all, I insist that students can concentrate better on their classes when they should take a test. In my case, I singed up history and Korean class in the last semester. The Korean prfessor had anounced that there were not any exams in this class and exams were replaced by two reports. On the contrary, In the history class, there were three times tests. Natually, I spent more time studying for the history and focused on the history course more than the Korean because of the test of history and thus when I got the my report card, I could see that I fail to pass my Korean class however I aced in history class. As a result, I maintain that exams play a key role to dtudents in studying.
In addition, I assert that unless students take classes with exams, they will be sluggish. According to research realesed by Harvard University, almost 90% of students failing to pass their courses singed up for class without tests. students also answered that they became lazy in the course of the semester. This outcome tells us that it is hard to say that most of the students are well-disciplined so they need to be controlled by some systems that encourage students to learn like tests. this is the reason why I think that exams are important to students.
In conclusion, I stronly believe that students need to have exams for their work. This is because exams not only enforce students to concentrate better but also prevent from being lazy. |
