1: People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experiences, career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. |
It is debatable whether university students should be required to take a variety of subjects or to take only one specific subject to learn. Some people insist that concentrating on one subject will enable students to be perpared for obtaining specialized jobs, which is critically in need in this modern society . However, I disagree to this opinion because taking many kinds of subjects definitely allows students to have a wide range of knowledge, and they can have more various options in determining their future occupation. First of all, learning numerous subjects at the university benefits students by broadening their perspective towards the world. They will cover informations varying from science to liberal arts. Attaining more knwledge not only creates more thorough thinking, but also logical conception. This is crucial in solving problems and making relevent decisions. For example, since I was seven, my father encouraged me to read abundant amount of books everyday. He bought diffrent kinds of books that were related to history, Sea life, engineering, psychology. By reading all these books, I absorbed large portion of world's multi- aspect knowledge, which made me to think of world in many diffrent ways such as; "What will happen if a engineering project is made under the sea and that it will harm many ocean species? "'I believe this had greatly contributed to myself to be a briliant and profound student at the school. Also, having access to many different subjects offers students to have wider choices in future jobs. This is mainly distributed to the fact that students will obtain diverse skills and knowledge based on many subjects. I strongly believe that trying out many sunbjects gives them the chance to really know what they want to become and what they are talented in. To illustrate, I had numerous subjects required in my freshman year. At that time, I frankly didn't know what I was truly passionate into, and the job I'll have to have after graduation. However, learning diffrent kinds of subjects allowed myself to acknowledge that astronomy was my favorite field. Now I'm taking advanced classes on astronomy, and became the chief manager of the KAA(Korean Astronomy Assosiation). Obviously, I have determined to have job related to it. Were it not for learning many subjects, i would'nt have had the chance to meet my life-long ambission, which is astronomy. In Breif, I firmly insist that learning many kinds of subjects widens the students view towards the world and it benenfits students to have wide variety of choices in their future job. The importance of taking diversity of subjects can not be underestimated if students have the willmess to seek for profound knowlege and their interest. |
