If a shopping center is to be built in my town, there would be an ongoing controversy. Some people would agree with it because there are already enough shopping malls and constructing the mall would create noise pollution to the residents. However, I strongly agree with building a shopping center.
First of all, a new shopping mall in town would create job openings for the residents. Recently, people are suffering from global economy crisis that they find it hard to get employed. Nevertheless, since the newly constructed shopping mall would need employees in town to work for them, it would solve residents’ unemployment problems. For instance, 9% of the unemployed in New Port Beach City, CA decreased to 8.3% after new “Macy’s” was built in 1992 according to LA Times.
Furthermore, shopping mall construction would also improve my towns’ financial situation. PyungTaek, the city where I live in is an ordinary suburban are wit nothing much to boast. The town’s budget is not to affluent and the town it self is only full of apartments and small stores. However, building a shopping mall in this area is likely to attract shoppers from other regions and increase my community’s finances.
Lastly, the new emergence of shopping mall in my town would provide the residents with diverse options of products. Although there are some people who argue that there are already enough stores in town, they tend to be small in size and only sell essential groceries or little stationeries. On the other hand, a shopping mall usually offers a wide range of stores from supermarkets to clothing outlets.
In conclusion, I strongly agree with the plan to build a new shopping center in my town in terms of residents’ employment and increase in my town’s budget. Even though it is undeniable that there could be some other good reasons for the opposing stance, benefits earned from a new shopping mall construction would be substantial. |
