Do you agree or disagree? People are never satisfied with what they have; they always want something more or something different. |
Most people who live in the modern world today may not be able to imagine that they can live without a cell phone or a car. However, people who live in the past could lead their lives without them. This shows the fact that people always want something more and something different. They change all the things they have, even though those are still usable. It is the natural instinct that human beings have.
First of all, as we have seen that most of things that people buy are unnecessary things. They already have nice cars and phones, however, they always want to purchase new ones. The best example of this point is Korean cell phone market. There are four major cell phone manufacturers in there. They continuously release a lot of brand-new cell phones almost everyday and most of TV commercials and paper advertisements are provided by cell phone companies. Therefore, people are easily dragged by those new cell phones, and many of them tend to buy those unnecessarily.
On top of that, people have a natural instinct that they want something more and something better than they already have. To some extent, people were able to make progress because of this kind of instinct. If people did not have any instinct to get more and better, there was little progress in human's history. Because creating something new and novelty might not need anymore if people did not want to buy something new. For instance, cars and trains and aircrafts were invented by the needs to move faster than before. Those have made people more convenient.
To sum up, people always want to get something new and different according to their natural instinct, and it can be seen by the facts that most people are likely to buy a lot of dispensable things. People's needs for something better than before work as the power to develop new technology and commodities.
