Today, people have their own jobs and they try to be the bests in their fields. Therefore, they should focus on their own fields. However, it does not mean that they have to study only the subjects that are related to their jobs. Since learning also general subjects can ( 의미상 좀 이상합니다. learning general subjects also 로 단어 나열을 바꾸셔야 더 나을듯.) help(s) students have more of general knowledge, and help them do better in their fields, those students should not be forced to focus only on specific courses.
To begin with, education of general subjects of students(삭제해도될듯) in universities give them more knowledge. Even though the subjects are not directly related to the majors of the students, they might be a help in some situations. To illustrate, when I was in Harvard University, ㅎ) my major was international laws. One day, I had to attend one of my professors' seminar because he wanted me to listen to what he said. There, he talked about the placebo effect. At first I did not understand what he said, but a little later, I soon found out(remembered) that it is about patient being cured only by his belief. It was able because I had attended a science class in the first year of the university. Attending a science class in spite that it was not a part of my major became a lot of help to me.
In addition, despite the fact that some basic subjects are not parts of some students' major, they are somehow all related to each other, which makes students obligatory to study general subjects. If a person cannot do math, he cannot solve, not all, but some science problems, and if he does not know about his country's history, he might not well understand a book written about his the tragedies of the country in the past. (이것도 단어 순서 변환이 필요함. the tragedies of his country in the past) For example, my best friend John is totally out of interest of national history. Last Wednesday, our language arts teacher gave us homework that is to read a book called "The Division", which was about the separation of our country, and then he said that we were going to take tests about it. While every students knew at least the basic story of our history, he knew nothing at all. The next day, he did not pass the test and he had to have detention after the class. Since he thought the national history, which was in fact related to language arts(,) had nothing to do with it, which was his major, the test had been very disadvantageous to him.
Some people might say that learning subjects that are not majors of students is(->are) only an obstacle because it lengthens the amount of time it takes for them to achieve dreams. However, because general education provides students with more knowledge which at intervals help them, and help them do better in their fields, students should also learn other subjects (other 까지 붙이셔야죠. other than ~이외에도) than their own majors, too.
ㅎㅎ (항상 제가 하는 식으로, However, they have to remember the fact~ 이거 있잖아요.
